Kate's Kitchen
New eateries open up so frequently in Cheongdam Dong, that a restaurant really needs to have a unique atmosphere to survive in the neighborhood. Kate`s Kitchen is one of those unique establishments. The restaurant is in a two story building that looks like a modern beach house. The walls are white, the ceilings are high and the tables and chairs are made with bleached wood. Modern art paintings adorn the walls and there are big palm trees inside. There is also a large outdoor dining area. On the balcony, there are intimate wooden cabanas good for two diners on a date. The place really gives you the impression that you are in a relaxing beach house somewhere in California.
The menu is very eclectic. It’s not fusion per se, but there are Italian dishes, alongside thai dishes and French inspired dishes. The owner just serves up things that she likes. For appetizers, the goat cheese wrapped in eggplant is a good choice. There is a brilliant pumpkin soup as well as a tasty quiche. The spicy green chicken curry is also good, but somewhat too spicy (ask for medium spice). Pasta dishes, like spaghetti vongole, are light and refreshing. One of the best things on the menu is the beef tenderloin which is imported from Australia. It has a smoky grilled taste and it's so tender it just melts in your mouth! If you like beef, the Kate's burger is also delicious. The restaurant seems to change menu items quite frequently, so the customers don’t get bored. This restaurant is sure to be a hit in the summertime.
Kate's Kitchen has a very Apku clientele and the expensive price tags to match. Kate’s Kitchen is off the luxury goods street. If you see the Citibank near Gucci, go up that alley make a left and an immediate right.(81-2 Cheongdam Dong, Kangnam) 02-3444-9936 $$$ www.kateskitchen.co.kr
