Puccini

This spacious three story Italian restaurant located at Kangnam station has changed for the better ever since they brought in a real Italian manager to help make the food more authentic.
Antonio Patella, who used to manage the super popular La Tavola in Itaewon took over management about a year ago. Since then, the quality of the food has become much better. They serve pizzas and pasta here and the breads are all home made. The most impressive things are the big scooped out wheels of parmaggianno reggiano where they actually cook the spaghetti. This gives the pasta a cheesier flavor which is really fantastic.
The first time I visited this restaurant, the atmosphere reminded me one of those typical Korean beer hofs, but I visited again during the daytime and the atmosphere was really quite pleasant. The floor to ceiling windows brought in a bright garden-like atmosphere and the high ceilings made the place feel very airy. There’s also a cute outdoor area in the back and it seems like there are a lot more plants in the restaurant now. The place was packed, and it seemed like people were really enjoying the food. The Kangnam station area is full of cheap eats for students, but Puccini is definitely more upscale. The prices however are reasonable. If you are in the Kangnam station area and you’re looking for some great Italian food, this place is definitely worth a try.
