Samwon
Garden

This famous Korean BB-Q restaurant is an oasis in Seoul. They’ve
been in business since 1976! The menu is typical: Kalbi, bulgogi,
steak, etc.. The restaurant is in a lovely old house flanked
with trees flowers and a relaxing waterfall. There are floor
to ceiling windows which make the place seen bright airy. The
windows look out into the garden instead of onto a dirty street.
In the wintertime, the waterfall freezes and it lends the place
a warm rustic atmosphere. In the summertime, the sound of the
rushing water automatically cools you off. There is a big outdoor
seating area, (presumably just for drinking since there are
no BB-Q pits on the tables). Inside there are big wooden tables
made out of natural tree trunks. They are like works of art.
The quality of food is also terrific, but local Koreans will
tell you there are better places. Obviously they don’t
have the same atmosphere. There is no wine here, only beer,
coke and soju. This is a great place to take someone who is
visiting from out of town. The place is near Dosan Park (623-5
Sinsa Dong Kangnam) 02-544-5351
