NAOS
NOVA
3
years in the making, Naos Nova is an ultra cool wine bar/ restaurant
with a design so stunning, that it’s been featured in several
interior design magazines before it’s doors even opened
to the public. Surreal poetry is projected onto the bare stone
walls. The three floors: Hell, Heaven and Earth, are accessed
by a lift completely covered in a mirror mosaic. Dramatic sculptures
made with pipes hang down from the ceiling. The whole space is
lit by a mix of subtle uplighting emanating from the floor and
candlelight. The super high ceilings and the floor to ceiling
glass windows give it an unparalled feeling of space. On top of
that, it’s location across from Namsan park gives it both
gorgeous park views and tremendous city views. When you enter,
cool lounge music which was imported from Europe is playing in
the background. The atmosphere feels like a cyber waiting lounge
for a trip to outer space.
Naos is Greek for `inner temple, or sanctuary` and Nova comes
from the Latin word ‘Novus’ meaning new. Naos Nova
is hoping to attract successful professionals in their late 20s
to mid 40s with their chic new concept. 230 kinds of wine are
available as well as champagne, cognac and organic teas and fruit
juices. You can also have dinner in `Hell’. The food is
fusion with an emphasis on French dishes. At Heaven, you can also
enjoy cigars.
The boss spent 10 years in France and speaks perfect French and
English, and the manager is an expert Sommelier who used to work
at the swanky ‘Ninth Gate’ restaurant at the Chosun
Hotel. Not only is it so exciting to finally have great wine bar
in the vicinity of Itaewon, but this venue is easily one of the
most visually stimulating in town.Too bad there usually aren't very many people here. www.naosnova.com (448-120 Huamdong
