SALON DE SISTERS

If you happen to be in Insa-dong and want to stop for a glass of wine in an artsy atmosphere, you might want to visit this wine bar cum coffee house in the basement of the trendy Ssamzie Market. The place is characterized by its brick walls and dim lighting.

There are two distinct sections. One has floor seating and is decorated by tatami mats, silk pillows and traditional Korean works of art. The other has an eclectic collection of leather chairs and velvet sofas. There's even a nifty, antique barber chair! This funky venue serves wine, beer and other refreshments such as coffee and tea. You can also get bar snacks like tokpoki (rice cakes shaped like penne pasta covered in Korean chili paste).

The sign for this bar is in Korean. It's a red neon sign and there's a barber pole just outside. It's open from12 p.m.-2 a.m. On Sundays, it's open until midnight. (02)736-7266.
