This type of yoga is named after Bikram Choudhury, a renowned yogi who incidentally was also a buff body builder! Bikram yoga is comprised of a series of 26 asanas (poses) which need to be held for a specific length of time. You start off with standing poses, continue on with backward and forward bends, and finally, you end the class with twisting postures.
Bikram Yoga is also known as ‘Hot Yoga’ because the session is conducted in a room which is heated to 90-100 degrees farenheight. This hot atmosphere allows you to work deeper into your muscles. The sweat you release helps get rid of toxins from the organs, glands and nervous system.
