BUDDHA'S BELLY

Buddha’s Belly is a charming little hole-in-the wall joint that serves really good Thai food. Though tiny, the restaurant still manages to have a cute atmosphere with dark wood, celadon green walls, Thai paintings and a few tables of outdoor seating. They are always playing cool lounge music in the background. The only drawback to eating at such a small place is that everyone can hear your conversation. Don't go there is you're trying to have a heart to heart talk with someone!
Buddha's belly has all the essential Thai dishes such as tom yum gung, tom kha gai, red and green curry, pad thai, and chicken with cashew. They have the best pad thai in town (either with chicken or vegetarian). You can also have the daily special for a sampling of a few different dishes. There are five choices for the daily special and you can have 3 of the five. The special typically includes a tofu dish, pad thai, a curry and some kind of soup or veggies. With your meal, you can enjoy a glass of wine or a singha beer.
For dessert, try the delicious tapioca with coconut milk and finish that off with thai tea with sweet milk. Entrees run about 8000-9000 won and there’s a discount for takeout. The reasonable prices and great location (near Noksapyong station at the bottom of veggie hill) makes it a convenient place to grab a meal. If you don’t feel like loitering, you can takeaway as well. This place is popular with English teachers due to it’s proximity to the Haebong-Chong district and it’s also convenient for soldiers living on base. Recently, it's been getting so popular even Korean celebrities have been coming to check it out! Call ahead to see if they have tables as seating is limited. $$ (673 Itaewon 2 Dong) 793-2173
