SWISS CHALET

Swiss Chalet replicates perfectly the ambience of a cozy chalet that one would typically find in the Alps. The restaurant has wood-beamed ceilings and bric-a-brac accents that lend a homey antique touch to the restaurant. Swiss Chalet has been around since the 80’s and was recently refurbished. However, not much has changed and it still retains the same old world charm without looking kitschy.
The thing to eat here is the cheese fondue. There are two types: the traditional blend and the chef’s blend. Both are okay, but it doesn’t compare to the cheese fondue you would typically get in Europe. One of the main problems is the lack of proper cheeses in Korea. Instead of the hearty apellenzer, compte and gruyere blend, the fondue seems to consist mostly of bland emmental mixed with a touch of oil. Most Koreans who are new to fondue or only have it once in a while, find the fondue to be to their liking. The fondue is decent enough despite it’s lack of authenticity and there are also other choices on the menu such as steak and pasta if you prefer something else. If you just came in from skiing in Yong Pyong and crave the atmosphere of a cute restaurant in the Swiss Alps then this restaurant is worth a try. Swiss Chalet is located on the winding street
