This super cute restaurant in Samcheong-dong is in a newly renovated hanok (a traditional Korean House). The clean white walls are adorned with blonde wood and big picture windows flood the place with light and shadow. The whole effect is fresh, modern and minimalist. The interior has 6 tables for two people and one table for 4. There are also a few private rooms which you probably have to reserve. In warmer months, you can enjoy a coffee or a meal on the sunny patio. There are a few teak tables outside which are shaded by canvas umbrellas. It’s a primo spot for people watching.
The food at 8 Steps is French/Italian like many of the other places in Samcheong Dong. To start, you can have a fresh and flavorful tomato mozzarella salad or you can choose from ceasar’s salad or tuna salad. There’s also seafood soup and a daily soup. The mains include several types of pasta such as vongole, arribiata, carbonara and mushroom cream sauce. You can also have scallops, risotto or beef filet. The food quality is really good however it kind of seems like all the restaurants in Samcheong-dong have the same menu.
Nevertheless, 8 steps is a terrific place to stop for lunch, coffee or a glass of wine while strolling around Samcheong dong. The place is small and extremely popular, so don’t come with big groups of people. 63-24 Samcheong-dong 02)738-5838
